W 36th St stands as a defining presence in Manhattan’s Garment District. Originally designed in 1925 by renowned architect Emery Roth, the building reflects the elegance of early 20th-century New York architecture, now thoughtfully reimagined for today.
A comprehensive restoration by GRT Architects has carefully preserved the building’s historic character while introducing a refined, contemporary design language. The lobby sets the tone — a curated blend of bold color, geometric composition, and layered textures inspired by the energy of the fashion world. Walls finished in Calacatta Regina marble by Walker Zanger add depth and understated luxury to the space.
The exterior has been restored in line with Roth’s original vision, bringing back its architectural detailing, including the carved stone entrance and signature terracotta panels with peacock motifs — a subtle nod to the district’s fashion heritage.
Inside, the design continues with a double-height lobby featuring sculptural marble surfaces and bronze-toned metal accents. The space balances scale and warmth, capturing the essence of New York Art Deco — bold, yet inviting.
Spanning 21 floors and approximately 110,000 square feet, W 36th St remains a key part of the Garment District’s architectural and commercial landscape. It offers a workspace where history and modern business seamlessly intersect — designed for companies that value both character and function.
