14 Story Class B Office Building, Multiple Floors Available
Built between 1912 and 1913, 1270 Broadway—first christened the Wilson Building—stands as a Beaux‑Arts landmark of early‑20th‑century Manhattan. Its street‑level façade is framed by ornate cast iron, the second and third levels are sheathed in rusticated limestone, and the crown is distinguished by paired arched windows beneath a bold, bracketed cornice.
The structure rose amid the transformational redevelopment of West 34th Street and Herald Square that followed the opening of Pennsylvania Station a block westward. This wave of construction mirrored New York City’s breakneck growth and modernization at the time.
Designed by the firm Townsend, Steinle & Haskell, the building weaves brick, stone, and terra‑cotta into a richly ornamented tapestry. Facing Greeley Square, it flaunts carved lions and intricate stone details that showcase the era’s craftsmanship.
Just steps away stands another Beaux‑Arts giant: the former Hotel Martinique (now the Radisson Martinique), completed in 1912 by Plaza Hotel architect Henry Janeway Hardenbergh. Once reputed to be the world’s largest hotel, the Martinique shares the classic three‑part composition favored in monumental buildings of the period.
Still functioning as an office tower, 1270 Broadway remains a tangible reminder of the commercial ambition and architectural flourish that shaped Manhattan’s early 1900s—and it continues to anchor the vibrant Koreatown–Penn Plaza district today.
